Swedish Massage Certificate Level 3
Is the course for me?
You will learn to give excellent Swedish massage which aims to release tension, relax and restore physical and emotional balance and vitality. You will learn to assess clients and check health status prior to giving a body massage treatment. You will check client posture and apply massage in a safe and effective manner. You will learn to work professionally, supporting employment standards, health, safety and security. You will complete an anatomy and physiology assignment for homework. (Subject to change). If you are new to Holistic Therapies, or have Beauty or Holistic qualifications at level 2, this is an excellent qualification to do. You will be assessed by written assignments completed for homework. You will do written end of unit test and multple choice tests.
Exam fees to be added to course fees. Course fees may vary. All students aged 24+ and studying a Level 3 or 4 course are now required to pay tuition fees. Case Studies for homework to demonstrate your knowledge and skills - these will be included in your Portfolio of evidence.
Assignments on Anatomy and Physiology, Employment Standards and Health and Safety for homework. VTCT qualifications are subject to change in September 2011/12.
What are the entry requirements?
Students ideally will have a minimum of 5 GCSEs (C or above), including Maths and English (or Adult Literacy and Numeracy Level 2 or successful completion of a Level 2 course with Functional Skills Maths and English).
All applicants are expected to complete an initial assessment on Maths and English as part of the enrolment procedure which will ideally show them to be working at Level 2 in English and Maths.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed by written assignments for homework, written end of unit test, multiple choice exam for health and safety, continuous practical assessment working on clients, case studies, subject to change. You will put evidence of all your assessed work in a portfolio.
What could I study next?
You may go on to further study in beauty or holistic therapy such as the Aromatherapy, Indian Head Massage, Reflexology, as well as the full time Complementary / Holistic Therapy course. You could do the Stone Therapy Diploma. You may take up employment as a massage therapist, in a salon or become self-employed. You will be prepared for employment or further study in this exciting and fast growing specialism. You can study Swedish Massage Certificate on it's own or as part of a group of holistic qualifications.
