Entry Requirements

A minimum of 5 GCSEs (C or above), including Maths, English (or Adult Literacy and Numeracy Level 2 or successful completion of a Level 2 course with Functional Skills Maths and English) and Science.

How will I be assessed?

Learning will be assessed by various methods, reflecting our willingness to cater for all students who may have different learning styles. Assessment methods include written work, presentations, participating in interactive / practical situations to provide assessment evidence and additionally you will be required to complete a "mini" research project based on a course related topic of your choice.

What could I study next?

On completion of the course learners will gain a recognised Level 3 qualification in Health and Social care. This will allow you to find employment within the health and social care sector, or progress onto further study in this area.

Are there any additional costs?

There will be additional costs when starting the course that include a DBS check (approximately £44), a USB stick to save all your assignments, a Health and Social Care book for referencing (£24) and a student planner (£2). All these are essential requirements for you to be successful on your course.

Second year fees may apply.

If the answer to these questions is yes then this is the course for you! This is a one year programme, offering progression to further study on Level 3 or entry to employment.

You will also be required to complete a series of work placements.

Will I complete work placements?

You will need to attend a mandatory placement for 2 days each week during the course.

Are trips and residentials organised during the course?

There will be a variety of trips organised throughout the academic year, including visits to local hospitals, universities and a residential.

Are there any links with industry?

The college has strong links with industry, therefore guest speakers are invited into college to share their own personal experiences. You will also provide support in the community.
