Warrington Collegiate and Warrington Wolves Partnership Plans

The strong partnership and association between Warrington Collegiate and Warrington Wolves continues to grow and develop with exciting new opportunities for 2012.

Over the years both parties have looked to enhance the education, health and welfare of those involved in the club and college.

Paul Hafren, Principal of Warrington Collegiate highlighted the importance of the partnership, saying, “We’re proud and delighted to be working in close partnership with the Wolves.  The club plays a significant role in many of our students’ lives and right across Warrington.  There are a huge number of benefits for Warrington Collegiate to work closely with such an excellent partner.  Both organisations are striving for excellence in all they do and that’s got to be good for Warrington.”

Graham Murphy, Curriculum Manager, Sport, Leisure and Recreation added, “The partnership between Warrington Collegiate and the community is integral to the development and future of the college. At the forefront of these partnerships for the sports sector are links such as the one we have with Warrington Wolves. We value their reciprocated support of the college and are confident that over the coming years this partnership will grow and develop to allow continued mutual benefit.”

Warrington Collegiate has shown ongoing support to the club's Scholarship set-up providing educational information, advice and guidance sessions, with the Warrington Collegiate logo used in conjunction with the Scholarship's logo on their team kit, equipment and all correspondence.

This continued partnership will see the Warrington Collegiate team and Rugby League academy continue to act as a feeder to the Wolves' Junior Academy system providing opportunities for Collegiate players to develop at the Warrington Wolves, creating a pathway into the professional game for any individual who possesses the right personal skills and ability.

“One of our aims is to see a player from the Warrington Collegiate’s Academy progress onto our academy and succeed to have a career within Rugby League” commented Player Performance Manager, Ben Lazenby,  “Young players develop at different times and mature at different rates so we continue to scout and observe players in both the amateur game and school/college competitions. It would be fantastic for a player to develop through the partnership that we have with Warrington Collegiate and become a contracted player at Warrington Wolves.”

The latest development at Warrington Collegiate, supported by the Wolves, will be the introduction of a BTEC National in Rugby League, in which all the course students take modules related to Rugby League with a view to enhancing their football development as well as provide them with long term vocational experience in sport. Course modules include Rugby League coaching badges, referee certificate, sport science, fitness training, tactical and technical knowledge.

Students also have the opportunity to train as a group to prepare for matches against other college Rugby League academies with players on the Wolves’ pathway getting additional skills and gym training and players outside the pathway can be observed in a professional environment. In addition the course will offer the pathway into coaching, refereeing and volunteering within the sport in conjunction with the community department at Warrington Wolves.

The partnership  will ensure that both Warrington Collegiate and Warrington Wolves can provide the best learning and development opportunities for the young people involved in both set ups
