Fashion students Charity Catwalk
Fashion students at Warrington Collegiate took to the stage to lend their support to the Amy Winehouse Foundation in aid of former student, Serena Harding, 16, who died in August this year. Shocked by Serena’s death, they were determined to show support for her family who were very positive about the show, wishing the students well for the evening.”
Students showcased their talents with clothing lines and design collections inspired by the 1920s look to Avant-Garde with hairdressing and make-up creating the catwalk looks to complement the clothing.
17 year old Fashion student, Philippa Carney, from Great Sankey, designed a Patchwork Cape, modeled barefoot on the night, explaining “My inspiration was the the music of the 1970s and the hippy movement.”
“The students organised everything, explained, Becky Rogers, Lecturer in Art and Design and Fashion, from music and food to sponsorship and the raffle. The event provides a platform for second year students who are planning to go onto University or into industry and for the first year students it will be an insight into the fashion industry.”
The stunning collections were applauded by a packed audience from the college, friends and family with over £160 going to The Amy Winehouse Foundation which supports charitable activities in both the UK and abroad that provide help, support or care for young people, especially those who are in need due to ill health, disability, financial disadvantage or addiction.
The Fashion and Performing Arts courses at Warrington Collegiate received a Grade 1 in the latest Ofsted inspection 2010.
