Funding Support

You may be able to access a wide range of finance and funding support to help you during your time at college

School Leaver funding support

If you are aged 16-18 and your joint household income is £29,000* or less per year, you will be eligible to receive support from the 16-18 Bursary Fund.

There are two types of bursary:

  • Guaranteed Bursary – If you are living in care, or are a care leaver, or you are receiving income support, universal credit
    or Employment Support Allowance together with the Disability Living Allowance, then you may be eligible
    to receive a bursary equivalent to £1,200 a year (pro rata).
  • Discretionary Bursary – This could support you with the costs of transport, meals in college, equipment
    and materials, trips, course related costs (including DBS checks and visits), sports activities, UCAS fees
    and travel to interviews/open days, or one off emergency costs.

19+ funding support

If you are aged 19 or over and are facing financial barriers, you may be eligible for an Advanced Learning Loan to help towards the costs of your course. For more information please click here.


Higher Education funding support

Student Finance Loans

You might be eligible to apply for student a Tuition Fee Loan and Maintenance Loan to help you with the cost of your studies. For more information, you can view our Student Finance guide here. Financial Assistance Fund

We have support available for higher education (HE) students who are in financial hardship and need extra financial support that allows them to remain in higher education. The financial assistance fund may be able to help you with an unexpected financial crisis as well as intervene if you are considering leaving your higher education studies, due to financial hardship. If you require further information, click here to download an information and application form.
